OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
These are just some of the major wins that the Latino Coalition has been able to bring home to the Latino Community here in Haverhill!
Recent Cuases
- Since our formation in the Fall of 2018 we have had meetings with Congresswoman Trahan, Mayor Fiorentini, Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Margaret Marotta, Chief of Police Alan DeNaro City Council and School Committee members.
- Since 2018 the City Website was equipped with translation in Spanish and many other languages as we requested of the Mayor.
- The Haverhill Master Plan committee included two Latino members for the first time.
- The first Latino Poll Worker was hired and participated in elections in 2019.
- wo major city boards, The Planning Board and the Board of Appeals, now have Latino members.
- Formed the Diversity Committee with a unanimous vote of the School Committee with the expressed goal of hiring and retaining more Latino full time professional teachers and administrators. Eleven new teachers were added this year.
- Signed on with CAI as our fiscal agent and received $1000 grant from United Way
- Through CAI received an additional $10,000 grant from ECCF for organizational purposes.
- Assisted CAI in getting more Latinos to fill out the census.
